Sunday 12th, April at Dorchester Corn Exchange

The event will be celebrating 50 years since the SW Group was relaunched with a Viewing at Dorchester’s Colliton Club in November 1976, so it is fitting that this event should return to the county town, in the Corn Exchange.

Application forms are now available. Please download, fill in, save and return or print, fill in and post—full instructions on the form.

Dorchester Corn Exchange is about a 10-minute walk from Dorchester South and Dorchester West stations. Long-term parking is available at Colliton Park and Wollaston Field, as shown on the map. There is no parking on site.

• IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT – the latest film from the courageous Iranian director, Jafar Panahi (Tehran Taxi, Offside), won the Palme d’Or at last years’ Cannes Film Festival and has been nominated for prizes at the BAFTAs and Oscars.
An unassuming mechanic is reminded of his time in an Iranian prison when he encounters a man who he suspects to be his sadistic jailhouse captor. Panicked, he rounds up a few of his fellow ex-prisoners to confirm the man’s identity. “There’s a seam of pitch-black gallows humour running through the picture, and moments of absurdist humour. But mostly, it’s an impassioned and forthright condemnation of the regime and of the men who does its bidding” Wendy Ide, Screen Daily

• SENTIMENTAL VALUE – also in the race for the Best International Feature film Oscar, and nominated for eight other Oscars, this story of family, memories and the power of arts has been a big success. Sisters Nora and Agnes reunite with their estranged father, the charismatic Gustav (Stellan Skarsgard), a once-renowned director who offers stage actress Nora a role in what he hopes will be his comeback film. When Nora turns it down, she soon discovers he has given her part to an eager young Hollywood star.
