Stroud Film society have generously offered to host the Viewing Day in Spring 2027 so their offer has been accepted in principle. Whilst the host society take care of all the “housekeeping” issues like food, venue, cake! etc; the Executive committee is responsible for choosing and sourcing films and licences, producing brochures and publicity, making sure the costs are covered and any other matters.
As discussed at the session, the Executive committee is short of people to fulfil these tasks and so are putting out a plea for anyone who thinks they could contribute. During the discussion about discs and issues with streaming, there was mention of sharing information around the societies – sadly we no longer have a newsletter editor to perform this task. We struggle to keep up to date with Cinema for All members as we no longer have a Membership secretary; and so on.
So, if you think you can contribute and help keep the Viewing Days alive, please contact Jane Sanders.
